Big Brothers Welcome Little Sister at Homebirth, Photographed by Allison Davila Photography in Yakima, Washington

I'd spent a good three weeks waiting on the edge of my seat for this one.  It was to be the first home birth for both the mother and me.  The call finally came at about 4:00 am on Sunday morning.  When I arrived, I was greeted at the door just as I had been on my first two visits with this family:  by two adorable, diaper-clad older brothers eager to welcome me into the home.  They were involved during the whole process -- offering wash clothes and bath toys to Mom, curiously investigating the tools that were shared with them by the midwives, and eventually marveling at the miracle of their new baby sister.  Dad, a marine, was as tender, patient, and composed as any father could ever be.  Mom was stronger, more calm, and more focused than I ever could have imagined.  This precious girl was welcomed in to the world by a loving family in a full and happy home.  It was an honor to be a part of her birth story.
