5 days past her EDD, I got the call around 11:30am that they were heading to the hospital. Once they arrived at Kootenai Health, got admitted and settled in labor room 4 we kept in touch and around 3pm I arrived to document their birth story. Family on both sides were visiting and anxiously awaiting the arrival of baby. No one knew if baby was a boy or girl! Bets were being taken during labor! Her nurse even got in on the action.
As contractions got closer together, it was time for family to wait in the waiting room. Before leaving the room they formed a prayer circle around Tiffany. Her grandmother led the prayer over her and the baby. The room was calm, quiet and peaceful in these moments.
Shortly after, as she labored through intense contractions it was time to push. 20 mins later at 8:20pm Cove Michael was born. They had a boy, another son! After spending the first hour doing skin to skin and breastfeeding, family was welcomed in to meet Cove. I think they instantly fell in love.
Another beautiful part of Cove's birth was having they baby's 2 great-grandmothers meeting him in his first hours of life. Having 2 sides of 4 generations is pretty darn special. I hope the family cherishes these memories for years to come.
